The Backbone Of Health Care Delivery
Nurses are indispensable in corrections as they not only provide essential health care services but also contribute to preventive care, emergency response, mental health support, rehabilitation, and humanitarian considerations. Their role is pivotal in maintaining the health and dignity of individuals within the correctional system.
The backbone of a health care delivery system is comprised of licensed, competent nurses, both registered and practical. Our nursing staff is trained on, and guided by, established policies and procedures patterned after those of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC). On-site management is provided by a Health Services Administrator who, in turn, is further supported by a dedicated regional manager.
Registered Nurses
RNs assess and identify patients’ needs, then implement and monitor the patient’s medical plan and treatment. They also ensure that patient care is conducted according to PrimeCare Medical’s policies, procedures and standards of care.
Licensed Practical Nurses
LPNs provide nursing care that includes monitoring a patient’s health, medication administration, dressing changes, and assisting with tests and procedures.
Professional Nursing Staff
Our nursing staff is further supported by phlebotomists, med-techs, medical assistants (MA) and certified nursing assistants (CNA).
Studies have shown access to qualified nursing staff, such as PrimeCare Medical’s, in correctional facilities correlates with better health outcomes for incarcerated individuals; reducing emergency room visits, improving chronic disease management, and enhancing overall health care delivery efficiency within these constrained environments.
